Ms. Nelson, Director of NPTAO, has worked in the field of American Indian economic and community development for the past 15 years, first as legal assistant to the attorney for the White Mountain Apache Tribe’s insurance defense litigation counsel office, and later as Program Coordinator Sr., for the UA’s American Indian Studies Programs Office of Community Development. Ms. Nelson received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1993 and a Master of Arts in American Indian Studies in 2004, both degrees from The University of Arizona. She has resided in Tucson, Arizona, for the past 35 years and happily considers Tucson her home.

Anne earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology/Research at Hood College in Frederick, MD in 1997. Prior to moving to Tucson in 2002, Anne was employed by a health and social sciences research firm in Maryland, where she managed a national study on college fraternity drinking for the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. Anne earned her Master of Arts degree in American Indian Studies at the University of Arizona in 2004. As the Program Coordinator for NPTAO, Anne assists the Director in managing and coordinating NPTAO’s various research and outreach programs, and is the production manager for ArizonaNativeNet. She also enjoys volunteering at a horse rescue facility in Green Valley on the weekends.

Ms. White is a media production assistant and editor for ArizonaNativeNet. An enrolled member of the Mohawk Tribe, Ms. White is currently working toward her Ph.D. in American Indian Studies at the University of Arizona and works as a graduate research associate for NPTAO.

Dr. Sanders is the Indigenous Law and Policy Curriculum Development Manager for NPTAO and specializes in development of distance learning modules and legal research and related issues.  Dr. Sanders received her S.J.D. (Doctor of Juridical Science) in Indigenous Peoples Law and Policy from the University of Arizona in 2007.  She received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Vermont in 1989 and her law degree (cum laude) from Suffolk University Law School in 2004.
